Apimedica: Antioxidant Activity of Chinese Propolis Analyzed

Analysis of Antioxidant Activity of Propolis in Different Areas by ORAC Assay

To research antioxidant activity of propolis from different areas, 87 propolis samples from various areas were extracted with water, 75% ethanol, ether, ethyl acetate, and petroleum ether and antioxidant activities of these extracts were measured by hydrophilic and lipophilic ORAC Assay.
The results showed that all extracts of propolis had strong antioxidant activities, and the extracts of 75% ethanol had the strongest antioxidant activity; In accordance with the geographical, the antioxidant activity of propolis extract in Hebei Fangcheng was the highest, conversely, the extract of Yunnan Xishuangbanna had the weakest antioxidant activity.

ORAC 法测定蜂胶的抗氧化能力

为了研究不同地区蜂胶的抗氧化能力。分别采用水、
75%乙醇、乙醚、乙酸乙酯、石油醚 5种溶剂对87 种蜂胶样品进行提取,通过亲水性和亲脂性ORAC(oxygen radical absorbance capacity)检测不同提取物的抗氧 化能力。结果表明,蜂胶提取物都具有较强的抗氧化能力,其中75%乙醇提取物的抗氧化能力最强;从区域 划分来看,综合抗氧化能力最强的是河北方城的蜂胶;而云南西双版纳的综合抗氧化能力最弱。
