Propolis is a resinous hive product collected from plant buds by bees. Bee products such as honey, pollen and propolis are used for the treatment of several diseases. Propolis extracted at the concentrations of 1000, 2000 and 3000 ppm at hot water and investigated for inhibition of Alternaría solani, Aspergillus niger,, Botrytis cinérea, Fusaríum oxysporum f.sp. lycopersici, Verticillium albo-atrum, Rhizoctonia solani and Pénicillium digitatum in culture media. The concentration of 3000 ppm was the most inhibitory concentration studied. The most affected microorganisms from all the concentrations among tested fungi were Rhizoctonia solani, Alternaría solani and Penicillium digitatum. The concentration of 3000 ppm of propolis extract inhibited the growth of three fungi; Alternaría solani, Rhizoctonia solani and Penicillium digitatum.
Currently, some experiments are carried out under the field conditions for addressing the effect of propolis against some plant diseases of some economic crops like tomato and squash.
