TODAY: Healing from the Hive: Medicine Making with Honey, Beeswax, and Propolis

Many people keep bees for the delicious honey they provide, but beyond simply being tasty, the honey, wax, and propolis that hives provide are potent natural healing agents and can be used to create nourishing, handcrafted medicines. In this class, participants will learn to make medicine that’s good for the body, heart, and soul, and that harness the intrinsic therapeutic benefits of these gifts from the hive. Combining locally-grown and sustainably wildcrafted herbs (many of which can be found in the backyard or kitchen) with honey, beeswax, and propolis, participants will learn to prepare herbal salves, infused medicinal honeys, and propolis-based medicine. Each participant will come away with an herbal honey, an herbal salve, recipes, and hand-outs to guide sweet medicine explorations in the future.

Instructor Riyana Rebecca Sang is a Certified Western Herbalist and graduate of the Ohlone Herbal Center in Berkeley, where she regularly works with clients, teaches, and makes medicine for the apothecary.

The cost of this workshop is $35. Please register at the website below.
