Using
Honey Bee Venom for treatment of some auto-immune disease now is popular in
apitherapists. The bee hive product and specially its venom have prominent
position within natural toxins. During past decades natural remedies became
more popular than before. This has different reasons. One of them was severe
side effects of common medicines within the market and the other in this paper
5 case report of this treatment is described.
Introduction
There
are a lot of eye problems which could make someone to seek for a
treatment.
The
following 3 disease has been treated by this method.
1- Uveitis
Inflammation
of the middle layer of the eye, termed the “uvea”. Uveitis may develop
following eye trauma or surgery, in association with diseases which affect
other organs in the body, or may be a condition isolated to the eye itself.
Severe and permanent visual loss can result from uveitis.
2- Blurred vision due to MS
This
blurred vision could be due to an immune based disease such Multiple Sclerosis.
Optic
nerve problems due to a systemic degenerative auto – immune disease such as MS
may happen in related patients.
3-
Sudden blurred vision
In
normal subjects without any diagnosis or back ground of autoimmune disease
sudden blurred vision may happen.
Materials and
Method
In
this treatment volunteer patients who were treated previously with routine
medications were selected by a physician. Before starting the treatment the
patient is asked to read the treatment protocol carefully and sign out the
inform consent. In the BVT (Bee Venom Therapy) protocol all medications should
be discontinued and Para-clinical tests such as Clearance of Creatinine, Serum
Cortisol and Titration of IgG are performed.
Controlled
bee hives in which bees were naturally feed were specified by an experienced
beekeeper. The mother bee hives were kept as far as possible from city
pollution and farms’ poison spraying. In order to carry the required live bees
to the surgery in the middle of town an especial isolated queen’s hive was
used. This new bee hive has been patented by Prof. J. Pourasghar in Iran.
Patients
Case Reports
a-
A 22 years old girl with MS diagnosis referred to us. She had symptoms such as
blurred vision, diplopia. She had to wear an eye glasses due to an
ophthalmologist diagnosis after one month of her MS diagnosis. She had also
parasthesia in her feet which would expand after high stresses.
b-
A 28 years old lady the mother of two children who had been diagnosed with
Multiple Sclerosis. Complained mostly from eye problems together with phobia
from jumping and height.
c-
A 38 years old lady who had been diagnosed with Uveitis whose job was a
shooting trainer faced with sudden symptoms such as redness and pain in her
left eye.
d-
A 46 years old male without any previous ocular problems had a sudden blurred
vision.
After
referring to 3 ophthalmologists and performing different clinical and
Para-clinical tests such as angiography from retina’s vessels, Optic Coherence
Tomography (OCT) and Ocular pressure had been examined. Those diagnoses
differed from need to use eye glasses for Myopa, increasing the yellow spot on
the retina, and accumulation of water behind the retina to Migraine. The most
optimistic forecast for solving the blurred vision problem was at least 1 year
time period.
e- A 32
year old newly married female with the diagnosis of MS and the symptoms of
severe blurred vision after a little dispute and tension. This patient The 26
year old MS diagnosed married lady who had been recommended not to be pregnant
which may worsen her disease situation.
Para-clinical
Tests
Before
applying the Bee Venom Therapy, the patients were asked to perform few
Para-clinical tests such as titration of IgG, morning serum Cortisol and
functional tests for kidneys.
The
summary of paraclinical tests before treatment is shown in Table 1.
To
follow up the situation of patient’s paraclinically, the patients were asked to
perform 4 tests such as IgG, IgG4, Total Protein (TP), and Morning Serum
Cortisol within each 4 months time period.
The
summary of paraclinical tests after treatment is shown in Table 2.
Applying
Honey Bee Sting in Patients
At
the first step after checking the first Para-clinical test results prior to
apply the Sting test we should make sure that the presented treatment protocol
is observed carefully. It means if the patient was in her menses period she was
asked to post pone the BVT session till she had even no spotting.
For
the start session 4 stings were applied after the first sting test from live
bee of a controlled bee hive. The first sting was applied preferably at the
lower limbs and the stinger would be removed as fast as possible.
Then
4 bee stings were applied on the eye points based upon the shiatsu pressure
points. At the continued sessions the
stings applied on the area defined on the other points regularly with the
exception of do not using the bee sting in place that was already swollen by
previous stings.
Results
Clinically
all patients have been examined thoroughly and following results obtained: In first patient with MS not only she took off her eye
glasses which surprised her ophthalmologist, but also the blurred vision and
lower limbs parasthesia especially in her feet has been diminished. This young
girl during this treatment succeed in the conquer in university and has got 2
medallion positions in her hobby sports. In second lady with MS she not only regains all of her vision abilities but also
she has no phobia from height or jump.
3-
In third patient with Uvietis the pain of left eye cornea has been finished and
the blurred vision has been decreased and time to time after severe stress may
happen but not as it was before treatment.
4-
The 46 years old guy with a sudden eye problem, whom the ophthalmologists
anticipate at least 1 year time period for his recovery, became completely
cleared in vision after applying 4 live bee stings in 2 sessions nearby his
eyes. The ophthalmologist was surprised after his examination of clear vision
with no need to any eye glasses or further medications. In this patient due to
short term illness and short time of recovery there is no Para-clinical
comparison before and after treatment.
5-
The 26 year old newly married lady MS diagnosed after one and half a year
period time became symptoms free. Therefore we recommend her to go for
pregnancy. Now she has a son and due to her job in school time to time she may
has a dispute but no blurred vision will happen again.
The
summary of applying Honey Bee Venom for the mentioned patients are given in
Table 3

Discussion
Due
to protein based characteristics of Bee Venom and its water solubility, in
order to care more for its depletion from the body of patients it’s necessary
to check out the functional tests of the kidney before commencing Bee Venom
Therapy (BVT).
In
this regard for more safety of patient in applying bee venom a complete test
for patient’s kidneys is performed.
In
order to use live honey bees we should use the controlled bee hives.
The main reason for applying a controlled bee
hive was to observe the most intact bee hive products (organic product) for the
patients.
As
far as we believe not only the HBV could not reconstruct the Meylin Shield over
the nerves nor could substitute instead of the damaged parts of Myelin,
observance of the appropriate life style is so important for the patients.
The
mentioned protocol is structured in this purpose and it has following
instructions such as: - In order to help
the different organs for good defecation, the patient should have a complete
rest (at least 4 hours) before mid-night).
- Taking massage under the water shower before
8 A.M. early every morning.
- Drinking the water as a medication (more than
3 liters within a day)
- Good defecation (more than 3 times of bowel
moving within a day due to instruction of
Avicenna 1)
- Having increase sport time within a week
The
nutrition of patients plays a noticeable role in their recovery. Based up on
the physiology of the human beings’ teeth, there is a recommendation to use the
required meat not more than 1/8 of their total food.
Comparison
of paraclinical results of the patients before and after treatment shows a rise
in the titer of IgG4 as the main anti body against HBV. The IgG4 antibody is one
of four subclasses of IgG which in spite of the other subclasses has good
effects in patient’s body.
The
nutrition of patients was checked by means of Total Protein (TP) Test. In order
to a valuable reconstruction of the nerves shield, the blood stream of patients
should be enriched from different essential amino acids. In this reason the
raises of TP could be so important to improve the patients’ shows the better
nutrition of patient.
Bee
venom Therapy plus appropriate nutrition, raises the serum Cortisol level at
patients which leads to better condition of them.
